Good show, though quite dispersed. Beautiful old concert hall. Very ornate in that 1930s Masonic kind of a way. We decided to play two sets tonight. one of just newer material and one of older material. I think it worked quite well. One thing was for sure, the audience needed two sets in order to settle themselves.
For some reason hardly anyone came to the gig on time. We were asked if we should hold the show to wait for the hundreds of people who hadnt shown up yet. We decided not to wait. We were ready to play and the show was advertised to start at 8:00. We hit the stage at 8:05. But, the audience was still coming in. And coming in with giant tubs of Fosters Lager. Everywhere I looked people were holding those giant cans of Fosters. It seemed so out of place in this theater -- a beautiful room with nice velvet seats and tubs of beers in peoples hands.
By the second set everyone settled in and we were finally together. Cyriel is becoming quite mood piece. Sort of filling the space that One Time functions well in: a vast open space in the set. The encored rocked, with Thrush, Construktion (a very new piece), and Elephant Talk.
