on the speakers: David Sylvian "Everything and Nothing"
on the page: "Water Music" -- Mungo Park hides from a leopard while his right hand man, Johnson, has a rotting chicken tied around his neck.
Well this was one of those shows that catches you off guard. The sound was pretty much crap at the soundcheck and we weren't expecting much of a crowd. However, when the performance began the hall was full and the audience was great.I can't even begin to stress how fantastic it was to have these six people in the front row grooving to the music. I'm sure that if they had been allowed to get up and dance, then they would have. They brought the whole show to life for us. I have been missing the physical connection with the audience, as of late. With everyone sitting quite still in their chairs, sometimes it can feel like the physicality of the music isn't translating. Mind you, we manipulate (and even destroy!) the rhythmic continuity throughout, but there is still a very raw and earthy side to this music. So, it was good to feel (and see) it connecting.
We played a little bit shorter set tonight, but included three different improv sections.
