June 10, 2000 -- Warsaw, Poland / Roma -- show #1

Ahhh, Warsaw. We finally made it after an excruciatingly long drive. It was only 195 miles, but it took over five hours. The hotel is great and there is a plate of fancy chocolates sitting next to the chair in my room. Yes!

It was a very good show. Well, perhaps I should say that it had some great moments, for there were some duds as well. ProzaKc came off very dead after Cage. Cage is such a high energy winner, with Adrian on acoustic guitar, Robert on vibes and myself on the rubber bass. To launch into ProzaKc just sounds incredibly slow and plodding.

The Larks' Coda was also a real drag for me. I think in, about, one out of three or four shows I really enjoy playing the Coda. But, for the other times I find it very hard to find a place to sit inside of the music. Tonight was one of those off nights.

The Construkction of Light was great. Frakctured was fun. The improv section found us playing a Beatles tune (I'll say no more about that.) Thrush was fantastic. Robert wailed like a demon, and I had the most perfect feedback, for my end solo. I have never experienced anything like this before. I could sustain for ever. And for the very tail end, the feedback went into a perfect fifth. So, I sung out a parallel melody as if I were David Hykes. The audience was absolutely dead silent as the final note died away into infinity. Then the silence sustained itself for even longer. No applause, no nothing. Beautiful!

The venue tonight was doing a long run of Peter Pan. We just came in for the two nights and then they would go back to their Peter production. What this meant was that all of the stage props were behind us and just off the stage. There was the giant crocodile and the pirate ship and all sorts of other strange things.

Well, Adrian just couldn't control himself with all of these wonderful props available. Sooooooooo, while Robert was out soundscaping (He began tonight's show with 20 minutes of wonderful sonic oozings) Adrian grabbed a huge spear off of the wall. He took the spear and went out on stage just behind Robert. All he did was stand there with the spear. Robert was too involved with what he was doing to see Adrian, but it was completely hilarious. It was so quick that I suspect much of the audience didn't see it as well.
