October 2, 2000 -- Tribute to the Love Generation Club / Tokyo, Japan

A very decent first show. First shows are always very exciting. Whether they are any good or not. Tonight was quite good. In fact we all felt that we have gelled as a group to a greater degree than during the European tour. How could this happen while we havn't been together for the last two months? Just one of those mysteries, I suppose.

Walking on-stage tonight I realized something about this music. That it is just hard enough to play that you have to have faith in order to do it. I mean, there is just too much to memorize to hold all of these pieces together. So much, that I can't even begin to make my brain function with all of this information during a performance. I just have to have faith that my heart and hands will deliver regardless of whether my brain will remember all the various parts of the material. I could feel myself going in and out of this state of faith. When it would wane, then I would begin to falter. I would bring it back, and the notes would just come and come and come.

We had a lot of fun during the show tonight. Hoorah, my wish is granted! Fun, fun, fun. Plus there were some really successful "heavy" Crimson moments. Red was very heavy. (Did I say Red? Oh, I didn't mean that. I meant Vrooom.) Larks was heavy. Fraktured was quite good and Frying Pan was rocking. Prozack, as well, was cooking.

I can't wait to hit the stage tomorrow.
