The player
is standing and his spine is curved.
The thumb of the left hand is curled over the top of the fretboard and the left wrist is twisted. The right wrist is collapsed, the fingers are resting on the strings and the pick is held in a weak grip by the fingertips. |

The player is seated and his spine is straight. The thumb of the left hand is centered at the back of the neck and the left wrist is perpendicular to the neck. The right wrist is free (the fingers are not resting on the strings) and the pick is held in a firm grip between fingers & thumb. |
